Looking for something different to do? An interesting challenge?

Being a member of Warwick Show Band is so much more than music and marching, it’s magic.

There are two ways to join the band, either as a band member playing an instrument, or as a member of our energetic Colour Guard who accompany the band’s performances with dance. It does not matter what level of ability you have reached, we will provide the education and support to enable you to develop; all we ask is enthusiasm.

Membership is open to girls and young women between the ages of 8 and 25.

We admit there are practices to be attended, music to be learnt, steps to be coordinated.  Due to our unique style and professionalism, we have opportunities to play at events and shows both in the UK and abroad. For example, on the last trip to Europe, the Warwick Show Band played in the Parade at Disneyland Paris.

Not only is there music at Warwick Show Band, but a huge social side as well. We are a fun, cosmopolitan group and always look foward to welcoming new friends to the band. Remember, a stranger is only a friend you haven’t met yet. Over the years many good friendships have been formed, lasting way beyond leaving the band.

And on top of all this there is no need to go to the gym, as all the music, marching (and a pinch of magic) will keep you slim, trim, fit and looking good.

So why not join and share the magic of The Warwick Girls?

FOR PARENTS

Are your daughters bored, complaining there’s nothing to do?

Being a member of Warwick Show Band is a challenging but enjoyable hobby in a social environment. There are opportunities to learn to play a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument, or be part of our ‘Colourguard’, a dance team that performs with flags and other equipment to entertain our audiences. This is both in concert and contest environments.

We run two band groups. The senior band is for girls aged 11 and older. This meets on Tuesday evenings and Sunday mornings and is the main performing band in the contests and concerts. A separate junior group runs weekly on Wednesday nights for girls aged 8 – 10 who would like to learn a musical instrument and join a fun and friendly group. This also provides an excellent stepping-stone to joining the main band for older but inexperienced girls.

Both bands are fully supervised, and as they gain experience in the band we encourage girls to take on responsibilities such as helping to teach the younger members. Many of the older girls move on to help run the senior band. This continuity makes sure we have a safe and supportive environment for all members of the band. All of our staff and older band members over 18 are CRB checked.

Warwick Girls also provides benefits as members get older. These days both universities and employers are looking for something ‘extra’ to separate candidates apart from the usual exam grades. Membership of Warwick Girls demonstrates teamwork, commitment, responsibility, the ability to learn plus social skills in a group, giving that ‘extra’ and making the application stand out.
